Press Release:

Sub Audio Records from its capital city Vienna is floating upstream through the local surge of sound system culture in Austria. With the EDM hype in the country died down, head honcho Georg W. is ready to showcase the label’s first release on vinyl catalogued as ‘SUBA001’.

The 12-inch plate holds his set of vibrations under the Gnischrew moniker; a sound that translates to suggestive, psychedelic sounds lacquered with heavyweight, contemporary sonic adventures. Its strong roots in bass and sound system culture will expose the producer’s early contact with audiophile music, its Hi-Fi counterpart and analogous system sound.

Gnischrew describes his first twelve on the label as an experience consisting of atmospheric and enticing soundscapes, which are coupled with a heavy foundation. The sound is designed for the connoisseurs out there – and is presented to you as below-the-surface and progressive underground bass music.

The Austrian label owner drags listeners through a subterfuge of formless basslines and tricky reggae-esque riffs. ‘Transmission Failure’ grows into a two-faced dub plate full of sophisticated dub elements and a few twisted surprises. A huge sample library is used to add in the smallest audible details ranging from extraterrestrial samples, dodgy percussive hits to these crucial dub siren peaks. Gnischrew has geared up to bring forth a mental journey that seeks to surpass listeners’ expectations in dub.

A different voice and beat pattern tints the blessed B-side of ‘SUBA001’; an anthemic horn energises the release from the first drop onwards. Wisdom of Jah is spread across the hot ‘Fluid Foundation’ adventure, sharing both lyrical and subsonic wisdom in various layers of the jam. The brass instrument returns to add presence to the noisey bass weight raging through thick smoke. This calls for a ritual only Gnischrew knows how to perform, fusing darkness and dub without any repercussions.
